Forecast of road surface temperature and condition of Czech motorways – FROST

The aim of the FROST project is to predict the surface temperature and condition of the Czech motorway network. The project envisages the use of new data sources, especially satellite measurements, which will be used for a cloud extrapolation. In previous projects, it was found that the main source of inaccuracies stems from the cloud predictions by the ALADIN model, especially from the prediction of the occurrence of low stratiform clouds. The forecast will be calculated on all sections of the Czech motorways and their connecting sections.
